KALYAN: Looking at continuously rising Covid-19 cases in Kalyan-Dombivli region, on Friday, the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation Commissioner Dr Vijay Suryawanshi has extended the lockdown for a week till July 19.
Kalyan-Dombivli is already under lockdown from July 2 to July 12. The twin city has become a hotspot area in Thane district as Covid-19 cases are rising regularly in KDMC limits. If civic data trends are to be believed then very shortly the city may defeat Thane city in numbers of Covid-19 patients.
The city meanwhile on Friday again reported the highest 606 Covid-19 patients in the last 24 hours and eight deaths taking a total to 11,537 patients in the region including 172 deaths so far.
If KDMC officials are to be believed then the extension of lockdown may help to control Covid-19 cases. A senior health officials said that most of the patients who have tested positive in the last few days have got infected before lockdown was imposed and once all such infected patients will get admitted for treatment then due to lockdown further community transmission can be stopped.
Earlier on Thursday, the twin city reported highest 580 Covid-19 cases. An officials said on Friday also 525 patients got discharged from different Covid-19 hospitals and Covid Care Centers while the remaining 5,292 active patients are still taking treatment.
Similarly on Friday neighbouring Ulhasnagar also reported huge 195 patients taking total to 3,619 patients in Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation limit.
