MUMBAI: A 51-year-old police head constable succumbed within 24 hours after he was admitted in Nagpur’s Indira Gandhi Hospital on August 15. With this, the toll of Maharashtra personnel touched 126, including four from the State Reserve Police Force (SRPF).
In the last 48 hours, total 396 police personnel from across the state has tested positive. Total positive cases across the State police touched 12,383, while 9,929 recovered and 2,328 are getting treated. Mumbai has reported the highest death toll of 59 personnel in the State. Total 4,442 city personnel were tested positive, 3,736 recovered and 646 are getting treated. Meanwhile, 3004 recovered has resumed duty till August 16.
Deceased Dilip Madavi, posted with Group no 4 at Nagpur, reported on duty till August 6 when he complained breathlessness and fever. “Madavi was on bandobast duty during the lockdown when he got infected. He was admitted to an SRPF Unit’s hospital. However, his condition deteriorated and was transferred to Nagpur’s government hospital on August 15 but succumbed the next day early morning. He had co-morbidities. Madavi was the second constable from SRPF while two officers succumbed earlier,” said a Mumbai SRPF police officer.
Total 2,186 SRPF police personnel (is included in the state positive cases) has tested positive, 1,784 recovered and 398 are getting treated across the state.
