KALYAN: The death toll due to coronavirus crossed the 100-mark in Kalyan-Dombivli after five more persons succumbed to the infection on Saturday. The city also reported highest 436 patients in the last 24 hours taking total numbers of patients to 5,309, including 101 deaths so far.
Kalyan-Dombivli has been witnessing a steady spike in coronavirus cases in the last three days.
Health officials said the rise in cases was the result of increasing testing capacity in the region as they had doubled the testing ratio from 600 to up to 1,100 regularly.
The officials further said that out of total 5,309 patients, 3,079 are active cases and undergoing treatment in different hospitals and Covid care centres, while 2,129 patients have got cured so far.
