Delhi: Drive to fight bad air to begin next week | Delhi News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Chief minister Arvind Kejriwal will launch a mega campaign against air pollution on October 5, environment minister Gopal Rai announced on Thursday.
Agencies like DDA, DJB and the corporations will showcase their preparedness for the winter and submit an action plan. A centralised system is also currently being set up at southwest Delhi’s Kharkhari Nahar village, where scientists from Pusa’s Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) will produce bio-decomposers to manage stubble burning in the capital and neighbouring states.
Rai said that Delhi government had urged the Centre and Delhi’s neighbouring states to adopt these chemicals so that stubble burning could reduce across northern India. He added that the government has also requested the Centre to set a timeline within which all thermal power plants and brick kilns in NCR will convert to newer technology to reduce emissions.
