MUMBAI: The city crime branch has busted an alleged fake vehicle registration racket and arrested two persons. Several fake registration cards were recovered from the duo.
Crime branch Unit XII, led by inspector Mahesh Tawde and his team, laid a trap near Dahisar railway station and detained two persons on grounds of suspicion and recovered 18 fake vehicle registration smart cards from them.
The accused were identified as Jayesh Mehata (5) and Avinash Borkar (40). Police have also recovered a laptop, a screen printer and a cellphone allegedly used to create fake smart cards. The duo reportedly told the police they forged old registration cards for new vehicles.
