GURUGRAM: A man and his son were attacked in New Colony area on Wednesday evening by a group of men after he asked them to put on their masks in public places.
Dharmendra Dass and his son Kush had gone to a bakery near their house in the evening, where they spotted a group of youths chatting without masks.
“As soon as I told them to wear masks they started abusing us. Soon they called more men to the spot who came with sticks. All of them started thrashing us for an advice I gave them for their own safety as Covid cases are on the rise,” Dharmendra told police in his statement.
Other locals who were near the bakery intervened and saved the duo, but by then Dharmendra’s shoulder had got numb and his son received injuries on his nose, head and ears, police said.
A PCR call was made but by the time a team from New Colony police station reached the spot, the youths had fled. The victims were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment by the cops.
Following Dharmendra’s statement, an FIR was registered against unknown people under sections 147 (rioting), 149 ( unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC at New Colony police station on Thursday.
“We have registered a case and are trying to identify the accused,” an officer said.
