NEW DELHI: After a dry spell, the city is likely to see light rain with partly cloudy skies on Friday and Saturday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Wednesday.
Though light rain was expected from Monday, officials at IMD said it would now return only by Friday evening. The maximum and minimum temperatures might remain on higher sides due to the humidity. The city would witness partly cloudy skies till the next week, while the temperature in the day time would settle at 37 degrees Celsius for the next seven days.
Kuldeep Srivastava, scientist at IMD, said, “Another spell of light to moderate rain is expected around September 22.” The weatherman said there was a least chance of Delhi receiving heavy rain this month.
According to IMD, so far, Delhi this month has witnessed three rainy days on September 5, 6 and 8 against six and 14 in September 2019 and 2018, respectively.
On Wednesday, the maximum temperature was recorded at 37.9 degrees Celsius, four notches above normal, while the minimum settled at 26.8 degrees, two degrees above normal. The humidity levels oscillated between 88% and 46%. This season, Delhi has recorded 467.3mm rainfall, which is in the “normal” category.
