Liquor sales up despite high fees in Noida, Greater Noida | Noida News – Times of India


NOIDA: Liquor business demand has soared in localities and residential pockets which have got developed in Noida and Greater Noida over the past few years. Unfazed by the Covid-induced slowdown, entrepreneurs interested in liquor business have paid up to 25% higher licence fees for opening vends in the city this year despite suffering huge losses in the months of March and April.

For the excise department, the demand for model shops is extremely crucial since the licence fees for such establishments is over Rs 1 crore, the highest across all retail categories. In Gautam Budh Nagar, three more model shops have come up during the pandemic to cater to the residents of Gaur City, sectors 100–107 and in Chhapraula in Greater Noida.
In the recently concluded settlement process, officials said, the excise department secured over Rs 1.35 crore for model shops this year. Last year, the fees for model shops were Rs 1.08 crore. From 23, the numbers have increased to 26. In fact, the total liquor vending vends in Gautam Budh Nagar have rose from 482 to 526, an increase of 10%.
“Rstobar business has been hit and we are getting request from the bar owners to offer exemptions,” said RB Singh, district excise officer.
