MUMBAI: A 100-bed dedicated Covid-19 hospital was inaugurated in Virar on Friday. The civic hospital will also have a virus testing laboratory.
The four-storey hospital, located at Chandansar in Virar (east) was inaugurated by guardian minister Dadaji Bhuse. Palghar district and Vasai Virar Municipal Corporation (VVMC) officials were present for the inauguration.
Each floor will have 25 beds. As of now 50 beds are in operation. The ground floor will have the RT-PCR lab. In addition, there are 60 doctors, nurses, ward boys. Nine ventilator machines are also available in the hospital. This is the first civic hospital dedicated for Covid patients in Vasai-Virar region. A trauma care centre was to come up on the land, work on which was stopped two years ago.
Till Friday, positive cases in the region touched 15,224, including 323 deaths. Over 91,000 swab samples have been collected till date.
