MUMBAI: A 50-year-old man who along with his accomplice hatched a conspiracy and killed his paramour’s husband in an orchestrated accident at Turbhe in Navi Mumberi were arrested by the Mumbai Police.
Shivaji Nagar police on Friday arrested Naushad Maqsood Khan and his three accomplices Ram Kumar alias Devraj Nirmal (28), Noor Alam Khan (38) and Mohammed Taqi Ahmed Shaikh (28) for killing Aahadullah Khan.
Police have booked them under the IPC sections of murder, destruction of evidence and 120 B of criminal conspiracy. All the accused were produce before the local court and were remanded to police custody till July 20.
Deceased Aahadullah Khan, a resident of Govandi, was a civil painter and used to take contracts of painting buildings.
On June 18, Ahadulla’s wife Yasmin lodged a complaint with Shivaji Nagar police that her husband was missing for two days and did not return home. Police registered a missing complaint and circulated his pictures to adjoining police stations.
On June 17, police found Aahadullah’s body on the MIDC road at Turbhe with serious skull injuries as if he was hit by some unknown vehicle. Turbhe Police registered an accidental death case. Till than Aahadullah was not identified.
“When we formed various teams and started looking for him, his brother Sajid finger pointed Naushad Khan’s role for two reasons-one that Khan was having illicit relationship with deceased’s wife and secondly deceased had taken a loan of Rs 2 lakh from Khan on interest which he had failed to return even after two years and than we started grilling Khan and his accomplices.’’ Said Kishore Gaike, senior inspector of Shivaji Nagar police.
The assistance of technical evidence of their mobile tower locations and sustained interrogations forced Khan to spill the beans.
Khan said that he was having illicit affair with Aahadullah’s wife and former was becoming an obstacle for them and secondly Aahadullah had failed to return the principal amount as well interest he had taken from Khan.
Khan further told police that under pretext of availing a painting contract took deceased to show a construction site in Turbhe on June 16 where the four accused hit him with iron rod and killed him.
“When he was seriously injured, an accused Mohammed Taqi rammed his pickup van over Aahadullah’s head smashing in skull on the spot and fled from the scene,” added Gaike.
Police said that they are still investigating whether Aahadullah’s wife has any role in the murder.
