MUMBAI: Two persons were injured after a portion of ground-plus-three storey residential building collapsed near Dreamland Cinema at Grant Road on Wednesday afternoon.
Officials stated that the two injured were trapped in the collapsed structure and firemen rescued them to safety. The two are recuperating in a hospital but are out of danger, said disaster control room official.
The building is an old-cessed structure and state government agency—Mhada—looks after its maintenance. Civic official stated that a side wall of the first-floor structure collapsed initially after which most of the residents vacated the premises. Afterwards, the side wall of the second floor building also collapsed.
Civic officials stated that all the building residents are safe and they have vacated entire structures. The BMC called Mhada officials to examine the building structure for further course of action.
