NAVI MUMBAI: Some of the Vashi based Covid patients who were recently admitted to the India Bulls centre in Panvel have complained of shoddy sanitation and other issues to the NMMC. The civic body will look into the plaint.
Former Vashi corporator and standing committee member, Divya Gaikwad, said: “One of the Vashi residents, S Bose, and his family members were admitted to India Bulls last week. However, he noticed that the toilets were dirty, the flush tanks were not functioning, while the bathroom lights were also not working on the ninth floor. The cleaners used to come only once in three days, while the food was also served cold. Hence, I have raised this issue with NMMC.”
The patient has also aired his grievance that no bedsheet or pillow was provided, and there is also presence of mosquitoes. Once he noticed an insect inside his food tray, and hence urged the nodal officer to do something about these issues.
“The response of the staff on duty is also rather poor and cold. Hence, I feel that someone senior must inspect this centre,” said Gaikwad.
While TOI has texted to the civic chief Abhijit Bangar on the issue, the head of health department, Dr D Katke, was unavailable for comment when contacted on phone.
Meanwhile, citizens and activists have urged the civic authorities to regularly inspect and interact with the patients in order to know their problems and resolve them at the earliest.
