GREATER NOIDA: A 23-year old man was arrested on Friday for allegedly raping his landlord’s wife in Jewar’s Jahangirpur.
The accused, identified as Vishal, is a construction worker. The woman filed a complaint him on Thursday alleging that the accused spiked her drink a few days ago and took advantage of her intoxicated condition. She added that Vishal lives in her house as a tenant.
As per the complaint, the woman’s husband had gone to Rajasthan for some official work where he was stuck due to lockdown since April. The crime took place a few days ago.
The accused arrived at woman’s house on the pretext of giving rent and allegedly spiked her tea with sedatives. “I started feeling dizzy after I drank the tea and soon after that he started undressing me and tried to force himself on me,” she said, adding that when she resisted Vishal thrashed her and threatened to kill her and her two children.
The woman informed her husband and filed the complaint on Thursday at Jewar police station. An FIR has been lodged under sections 376 (rape) and 506 (criminal Intimidation) of the IPC.
Firoz Khan, senior sub-inspector at Jewar told TOI that after the complaint a team was immediately sent to the accused man’s room. However, he had fled by then along with his belongings.
During investigation, it was found that the woman and Vishal were having an affair that went wrong after the husband came to know about it. “It has been revealed that the two were in an affair and they were exposed in front of the woman’s husband after he came back a few days ago,” Khan said, adding that the woman’s husband had allegedly separated from her a few days ago after knowing about the relationship. Soon after this, the accused had also vacated the room.
“We traced him from Khurja underpass on Friday afternoon and after a mandatory medical examination, he was produced before the court and was sent to the judicial custody,” the officer added.
