NOIDA: The Uttar Pradesh State Industrial Development Authority (UPSIDA) has launched a drive to clean up and repair roads, drains and lights installed at the industrial sites in Surajpur. Under the drive, a 13 km drain, which was last cleaned in 2005, would be cleaned up and 1,000-odd street lights would be converted to LED lights.
Newly appointed UPSIDA CEO, Mayur Maheshwari, said: “We have inspected the sites and ordered that some specific roads be repaired and the drains be cleaned.”
According to UPSIDA officials, maximum problems have been detected in site 5 and a series of initiatives are being planned for the area and funds have been allocated for that.
“Clogged drains and broken roads are some of the long-pending issues in the area,” said an official.
Among the five sites in Surajpur industrial area, Rs 39 lakh has been allocated for cleaning up drains in sites B and C and the work is in progress. In February, Rs 283 lakh had been disbursed for road repairs in these sites. Officials at UPSIDA said an additional Rs 300 lakh is being organised for the improvement of the two sites.
The irrigation department has given an estimate of Rs 378 lakh to clean up the 13km drain. The amount would be shared equally by the UPSIDA and the Greater Noida Development Authority. Other repair works include repair of drains at UPSIDA site 4, at a cost of Rs 15 lakh. At site 5, roads have not been repaired since 2016, now, Rs 600 lakh has been approved for it after an assessment by IIT-Kanpur.
Kulmani Gupta, chairman, Indian Industries Association (IIA) – Noida, said: “Repairs and clean ups have been our long standing demands. Roads and sewage system is of primary importance to industrial sites. We welcome the step.”
