The theft took place in the the fifth-floor flat of businessman Harosh Kattukaran’s (41) at Lake Front Solitaire.
“The CCTV footage at the apartment showed him scale down through the gas pipeline, but we could not identify him, said deputy commissioner of police Ankit Goyal. “It was purely human intelligence that helped track him as he does not use a mobile.”
The theft took came to light the morning after when the businessman’s wife found the French window of the hall open. The wardrobe of the master bedroom was broken and the jewellery stolen. Two other flats in the building had been broken into.
Sub-inspector Pravin Mahamuni got a lead about Babu’s role in the theft, said assistant commissioner Milind Khetle. An informer had tipped him that he had seen Babu spend a few lakhs on drugs in recent days.
