JAIPUR: Right now, Rajasthan Royals are facing the inevitable bump in the road, which is likely to test their resolve. The Steve Smith-led side opened their IPL 2020 campaign with two wins on the trot in Sharjah, defeating Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab in two high-scoring encounters.
Since then, however, their pride and self-esteem have both taken a beating as the team has slumped to defeat in their next three games.
IPL 2020 POINTS TABLE
“Obviously disappointing results, but we need to keep moving forward,” Smith was quoted as saying after the loss to Kolkata Knight Riders the other day. But on Tuesday, the Aussie skipper failed to motivate his boys as they succumbed to a formidable Mumbai Indians.

Jos Buttler was the only exception, scoring 70. Rajasthan are now languishing at seventh position with only four points.
The Royals middle-order has been a huge concern. They have the likes of Buttler, Smith and Sanju Samson in the top order, and all are capable of delivering the goods against any side.
The middle order, though, has not been up to the mark. Barring cameos from the likes of Rahul Tewatia and Tom Curran, the line-up doesn’t inspire confidence.
The biggest challenge for Smith’s side will be to deal with the high-flying Delhi Capitals as both sides meet in Sharjah on Friday. Royals lost their spark since they left Sharjah.
Smith is now determined that all the bowlers will chip in with useful contributions.
