THANE: After two contradictory reports, a 44-year-old woman’s third Covid test report came negative on Sunday—much to R Pawar and her family’s relief. Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) conducted the third test on her family’s request. Her first test done at TMC hospital last week came positive, and the second one at a private lab the next day came negative.
Activists expressed their concern at the volume of ‘faulty reports’ and fear that several healthy people may have been people to Covid facilities and exposed to Covid treatment. Pawar’s family said she was going to be shifted to a Covid facility, but as they insisted on a fresh test, she was put in quarantine and a another test was done. Deputy municipal commissioner, Sandeep Malvi, justified the error in testing, quoting ICMR norms of the possibility of mistakes in 5% cases.
