Ongoing construction work of the six-lane bridge on Ulhas creek
KALYAN: The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA), which is constructing a six-lane Mankoli-Mothagao bridge on Ulhas creek, on Tuesday set the deadline to complete its work in the next 15 months.
The construction of the bridge will connect Kalyan-Dombivli with shortest route to Bhiwandi and Thane limits benefiting about 60 lakh people.
The bridge work, which is going on since 2016, was expected to complete by 2019. However looking at delay in the work, Kalyan Lok Sabha MP Dr Shrikant Shinde on Tuesday held a review meeting with senior MMRDA officials in Dombivli.
During the meeting, MMRDA’s executive engineer Arjun Korgaonkar said that bridge work towards Dombivli’s Mothagao is almost completed while work which was delayed due to land acquisition issue towards Mothagao side is also solved as 80% of land acquisition has been completed.
The MMRDA officials said that they have set deadline to complete work in next 15 months.
Meanwhile, considering the possibility of heavy traffic towards Dombivli once the bridge work ends, Dr Shinde ordered MMRDA to complete the ongoing phase 3 of Kalyan-Dombivli ring road work on priority basis.
