THANE: A day-old baby girl who was fostered by an activist after her mother tested positive, was reunited with her mother nearly a month later, on Sunday.
The baby’s 34-year-old mother was made to run around several hospitals in Thane and Mumbai, following an alleged confusion over her name in the Covid report she had to undergo before being operated upon.
The baby, named Rajnandini by her parents, was temporarily adopted by MNS activist Samiksha Markande, after her mom was sent to a Covid hospital immediately after her birth on June 14. “My wife recovered June 30, but was asked to wait for another 10 days before we could welcome our baby home. We can’t thank these angels enough,” said teary-eyed father Sunil Lahoria.
After nurturing the baby for a month, the Markande family bid her a hearty farewell. “She had become a member of our family and now my house feels empty. We will miss her a lot,” said Samiksha, a mother of two.
