THANE: Two employees from the Thane mental hospital have been quarantined after they came in contact with Covid-19 positive patients, confirmed authorities.
“An attendant and office staff from the hospital had come in contact with coronavirus positive patients. The positive patients that these employees came in contact with were either their relative or neighbours. Also these two employees are not quarantined in the hospital premises,” said an official from Thane mental hospital.
While so far no employee from the hospital has tested positive, these two employees who are suspected of being infected are under observation.
It is learnt that there are over 800 inmates in the hospital and so far no one has contracted the infection due to the precautionary measures being taken by the hospital staff.
They do not only sanitise themselves but also wear protective gear before approaching any patient.
The authorities said that the hospital too has two quarantine rooms in case any patient shows sign of the infection. Also, the rooms are used by patients who are newly admitted to the hospital.
“As patients in the hospital come from outside and we aren’t aware about their travel history or whom they have came in contact with, they are initially quarantined. There is one quarantine room each in male and female ward. After staying in the quarantine facility when no signs of the infection are seen then they are shifted in the ward,” said an official.
