MUMBAI: The BMC on Sunday finished laying an alternative water pipeline through Doongerwadi near Hanging Gardens in south Mumbai in a record three days.
From Monday, water supply will be restored to Altamont Road, Pedder Road, Kemps Corner and the other areas in south Mumbai that had gone dry after four pipelines passing beneath BG Kher Road were badly damaged following Thursday’s landslide.
Additional municipal commissioner P Velrasu said, “Water will be supplied for some time late at night. From Monday, supply will be completely restored and the pipeline will be kept under observation.” The new arrangement, said a civic official, will be there at least for a year, till the damaged pipelines are repaired.
