A Full Program Disc
Have you ever wondered how it must have felt to spend an evening at the movies during the silent era? We certainly have and so we've put together a program that we hope will provide a similar viewing experience. Although we will never see an original silent film program we imagine they were something like this...
THE EYES OF JULIA DEEP (American Film Company - 1918)
Mary Miles Minter, Alan Forrest, Alice Wilson, George Periolat, Ida Easthope, Eugenie Besserer, Carl Stockdale. Directed by Lloyd Ingraham. ~ ~ ~ Department store employee Julia Deep (Mary Miles Minter) prevents handsome playboy Terry Hartridge (Alan Forrest) from committing suicide and then falls in love with him. His interest in Julia causes her to lose her job and the two decide to pool their resources, apparently to the point of living together. A nice print of one of the few Mary Miles Minter films known to have survived.
A ONE NIGHT STAND (Keystone - 1915)
Chester Conklin, Mae Busch. ~ ~ ~ It's the night of the big show, stage actress Mae looks lovely and stagehand Chester just wants to have fun.
MYSTERY OF THE DOUBLE CROSS - Chapter 1 : The Lady in Number 7 (Pathe - 1917)
Mollie King, Leon Bary. Directed by Louis J. Gasnier, William Parke. ~ ~ ~ Peter Hale (Leon Bary) receives a cryptic message informing him that a double cross will play a significant role in his future and then encounters the beautiful and mysterious woman of the double cross.
The Screening Room
Rare Footage from OLD HEIDELBERG (Fine Arts Film Company - 1915)
Dorothy Gish, Wallace Reid, Erich von Stroheim. Directed by John Emerson. ~ ~ ~ The first film adaption of Wilheim Meyer-Forster's novel looks like it could have been made by D.W. Griffith. Wallace Reid plays the Prince, Dorothy Gish his beautiful lover and Erich von Stroheim his valet. Nicely done.
