Directed by Malcolm St. Clair. ~ ~ ~ Detective Philo Vance (William Powell) investigates the murder of "The Canary" (Louise Brooks) in this film based on S. S. Van Dine's novel. Originally made as a silent, the film is presented with a soundtrack as released by Paramount in 1929. Color-tinted, 77 minutes. Green. ~ ~ ~ Ella Cinders is the Cinderella story set amid the backdrop of Silent Era Hollywood. More significantly it is a vehicle designed to showcase the enormous appeal of one the most popular stars of the Silent Era—Colleen Moore. ~ ~ ~ Transferred from an original Kodascope print and presented in the original Kodascope tint. MORE EYES OF JULIA DEEP (1918) - [Full Program] - Mary Miles Minter, Alan Forrest, Eugenie Besserer, Carl Stockdale. Directed by Lloyd Ingraham. ~ ~ ~ Department store employee Julia Deep (Mary Miles Minter) prevents handsome playboy Terry Hartridge (Alan Forrest) from committing suicide and then falls in love with him. His interest in Julia causes her to lose her job and the two decide to pool their resources, apparently to the point of living together. Kenton. ~ ~ ~ Irene (Marie Prevost) follows her soon-to-be ex-husband (Harrison Ford) on his honeymoon to interfere with his plans. Great fast-paced fun from start to finish with an ending we really enjoyed. Color-tinted, 72 minutes. Directed by Victor Fleming. ~ ~ ~ Vivacious Clara dances the hula and pursues her man in 1920s Hawaii. 72 minutes. Seitz. ~ ~ ~ Viola Dana and Kenneth Harlan get caught in the middle of a northwest logging camp conflict, amidst the approach of an ominous ice flood.
