Directed by Frank Capra. ~ ~ ~ Molly Kelly (Viola Dana) seeks a way to get rich after her new husband (Ralph Graves) is disinherited. The "Capra touch" is clearly evident in this silent comedy as a number of scenes seem to foreshadow sequences from his later sound films. 81 minutes. MORE THE TOLL GATE (1920) - Cast: William S. Hart, Anna Q. Nilsson, Joseph Singleton, Jack Richardson, Richard Headrick. Directed by Lambert Hillyer. ~ ~ ~ William S. Hart plays notorious outlaw Black Deering, a robber and killer, who discovers he can't go straight. A dark and serious western, this film contains themes one would expect to find in a film made in the 1960s rather than the 1920s. Color-tinted, 75 minutes. MORE THE UNCHASTENED WOMAN (1925) - [Full Program] - Cast: Theda Bara, Wyndham Standing, Eileen Percy, John Miljan, Dale Fuller, Harry Northrup, Mayme Kelso. Directed by Adrian Brunel. ~ ~ ~ The vortex swirls about a romantic quadrangle involving a mother, her son, her son's fiancee and the mother's lover. Daring in its day, this unique silent deals with infidelity and drug use, with overtones of homosexuality and incest. Transferred from a very good print of this extremely rare title. Includes a Felix The Cat short. Color-tinted, 62 minutes. MORE THE WHITE SISTER (1923) - [Full Program] - Cast: Lillian Gish, Ronald Colman, Gail Kane, J. Barney Sherry, Charles Lane. Directed by Henry King. ~ ~ ~ The story of a woman (Lillian Gish) who discovers a new meaning in life after losing all she once possessed, only to be tempted to return to her former self. An excellent example of the silent photoplay with fine performances by Lillian Gish and Ronald Colman. Directed by Henry King, who would go on to make Stella Dallas two years later.
