SILENT RARITIES

THE COST OF HIGH LIVING (Vitagraph Company of America - 1916)
William Duncan, Corinne Griffith. Directed by William Wolbert. ~ ~ ~ William Duncan plays a wild college boy in need of taming. One of Corinne Griffith's early Vitagraph films.

CHAPLIN ANIMATION (circa 1915)
Transferred from a film fragment of unknown origin. This snippet not only features an animated Charlie Chaplin but includes animated versions of Fatty Arbuckle and Mabel Normand as well!

TOP SERGEANT MULLIGAN (DeMille Pictures Corporation - 1927)
Lila Lee, Wesley Barry, Gareth Hughes, Wheeler Oakman, Wade Boteler. Directed by James P. Hogan. ~ ~ ~ Originally a six-reel feature, we have only reel two and reel four. Entertaining footage.

THE COUNTRY DOCTOR (Gainsborough Pictures - 1928)
Rudolph Schildkraut, Junior Coghlan, Sam De Grasse, Virginia Bradford, Frank Marion. Directed by Rupert Julian. ~ ~ ~ A one-reel Kodascope abridgement presented in the original Kodascope tint. Even though THE COUNTRY DOCTOR was originally eight reels in length this condensation works quite well as a one-reeler. Excellent Kodascope quality.

THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME (Pathé Frères - 1911)
Henri Krauss, Stacia Napierkowska. Directed by Albert Capellani. ~ ~ ~ Probably the most faithful film adaption of the Victor Hugo classic. You just might think you're watching Patsy Ruth Miller rather than Stacia Napierkowska as you view this extremely well made film. Intertitles in this presentation have been translated into English by Sunrise Silents.

WHOSE BABY? (Keystone Film Company - 1917)
Gloria Swanson, Bobby Vernon. Directed by Clarence Badger. ~ ~ ~ Poor Bobby thinks he has two wives. Transferred from an incomplete one-reel print of this rare Swanson title.

Color-tinted, 80 minutes total running time.
